happy new year

2 min read
First of all: Happy belated new year to all of you! Hope you've had a good start into the new year and that 2009 will bring positive things your way.

I know, it's been a looooooooooooooooooooong time since I was last active here (if checking in hurriedly and leaving two comments and faving about one photo can be called "being active"), and I really feel sorry about that.
Hope all you kind people and talented artists can forgive me for not living up to my previous promises. It's just that our financial situation isn't getting any better, so instead of spending two hours a week online, I just hop onto the net for half an hour, which I mostly need to organize my e-mails and to research on the matter of migrating to some other country to work there for a couple of years.
I definitely miss being on here and I fondly remember the hours I used to spend on deviantART, and of course I miss all of my friends here desperately! *sniffles & hugz you all*
Let's hope things will get better soon and I'll be able to come on here for longer periods soon…
2009 did bring a nice surprise my way already: My camera is working again! We showed it to someone selling cameras and the like and he said it was never really broken. The thing is that I had been using rechargeable batteries from Germany for years but they got too weak, so I had to exchange them for normal batteries bought here. That person said those batteries aren't powerful enough for my camera and he advised me to buy two expensive rechargeable batteries and try. Well, it worked, and I'm on cloud number nine! :-)

Take care, all you wonderful people out there.

You don't know what you got until you lose it…
I'm sure all of you have stumbled upon this saying in one of its variations. As for me, I find myself once again realizing how true it is that you only really value something (and even someone) once you've lost it.
My camera is still broken and I'm all devastated about it. I have to say I did value it when it was still in working order, but now I keep thinking I should have valued it even more. You know, cleaned it more often, taken more photos while I still had the opportunity… I'm using my old camera for taking the pictures that I absolutely HAVE to take, but the quality is so disappointing it feels like I'm looking at everything through foggy dirty glasses. :-( On top of that, it needs 4 instead of 2 batteries and I can't find any rechargeable batteries here, so I have to buy normal ones and use them sparingly as they're quite expensive. *sigh* Ah well, at least I can still look back on all those photos I took with the now broken camera and wallow in self-pity… ;-)
On a different note, it's raining cats and dogs here and half of the country is flooded. Doesn't really do anything to lift my spirits… But it at least means it cools down enough for us to switch the fan off now and then. Hurray, saving electricity! *lol* In Germany, winter will soon knock on everyone's door. It's been more than two years now that I experienced my last winter but I still vividly remember the cold and icy and snow and wind and slush. Gosh, am I happy to have left that behind!
What about you, my friends? What's your favourite season of the year, what's your favourite weather? Are you a snowman or a sunflower? :-) Do post your answers here, I wanna know.
On a farewell note for now, I'm once again saying how very sorry I am for not checking in on your photos more often, for commenting in a hurry and taking a long time to respond to messages. I miss ya all a lot and wish it would be otherwise.

good and bad

3 min read
Good and bad… black and white… sunshine and rain… That's the way life goes, isn't it? There's always something good to everything bad and there's never only happiness but also some negative side to things.

As for me, the good things to report are that firstly I am getting along nicely with my new computer and guess what, I even have a version of Adobe PhotoShop CS2 on it. Gotta say though that I'm pretty much baffled when it comes to this monster programme. ;-) Will slowly inch my way through the tutorials, so don't expect any photoshopped uploads soon. Secondly we're doing fine at our new place. It's not as small as we had first feared it'd be, we're allowed to use the garden and the house owners are nice and helpful people. Have planted vegetables and bought some flowers in pots, so it does feel like home, and like more than two months. :-)
The bad thing to share with you is that my camera is broken! *cries* I think it's some loose connection or other problem with the battery compartment because sometimes I can on the camera after much rattling and shaking and probing, sometimes it won't go on at all, sometimes I can take one or two pictures and sometimes it shuts off when I press the shutter button. We've tried different batteries, some full and some half empty but it doesn't help. Zooming and viewing photos (in the early phase when I could still take a shot or two before the camera kept shutting itself off) as well as transferring them to the computer worked, so the battery connection seems to be the only thing screwing up on me. :-( Unfortunately, I don't know anyone to ask for help and if there's a shop here, they'll just take a lot of money for looking at it and then tell me to get a new camera. Which is certainly can't afford as I just had to buy a new PC! Bugger, bugger, bugger! No idea how to solve this problem, so from now on expect "old" photo uploads. Any advice is of course welcome!
Signing off with another heartfelt SORRY for not being here as much as I'd love to and for not commenting as much as I had promised. Hope you're still with me. MISSING YA ALL!

Really hoping that you all haven't worried too much about my recent long silence - was SO busy with shifting and with getting adjusted to the new living arrangements and also with buying a new computer!

Things are going really well here though, so no need to worry.
The house owners are nice and helpful, I'm getting along with the housework better than i thought and I bought a new computer yesterday and it's great. :-)

Hoping all of you are fine and am extremely SORRY that I haven't been able to view your amazing art, reply to messages or comment on your journals. Praying that things will calm down now and that I'll get to spend a bit more of time at the internet cafe soon.

Love ya all and am missing you like heaven and hell! :glomp:

Hey there, just a short message:

I'm in the process of moving to a small annexe with my husband, so am all busy.

Turned 21 on the 29th of June but don't feel any older... ;-)

Haven't bought a new PC yet and can't spend much time online at the moment.

Missing ya all SOOO much!
